Can’t stomach an eat-all-you-want meal after all the festive eating?

One Tree Buffet is launching a curated menu using some of its best-loved and freshest ingredients for week-ending lunches.

Founded by Daniel Huang and with the kitchen helmed by head chef David Foo (ex-Katsura), the restaurant was set up to celebrate the best of Asian cuisines in a premium buffet setting.

But Huang said he understands that the preference for most for lunch would be to savor a lighter meal rather than indulge in a spread that includes teppanyaki, Peking duck, and seafood.

Chef Foo is presenting a menu made up of 15 small-plate options, five main dishes and four desserts based on some of his favourite creations.

“These are dishes that are very close to my heart, and honouring the Japanese-inspired roots of One Tree Buffet,” Foo said.

The menu begins with a sashimi sampler of salmon, tuna, kingfish and scampi. The fish is delivered daily to ensure freshness, said Foo.

Among the sushi offerings, the “OTB Sushi Rolls” steals the limelight with its colourful garnishing. These are sushi made with salmon, unagi (teriyaki eel) with avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, tobiko and sesame.

For tofu lovers, the Seaweed Tofu - where the tofu is crispy fried and covered with seaweed seasoning - truly helps open up the appetite.

Be prepared to savour the sauce that goes on the Saikyo King Salmon - made with miso, gochujang, mirin and honey mango, is simply mouth watering.

We tried both the seared salmon and the dried aged sirloin, which were both divine.

Those who need their carbs are not forgotten, with Scampi Ramen, Warm Soba and Creamy Seafood Risotto also among the mains.

The scampi ramen comes with Japanese fish roll, mushroom and seaweed sheets and topped with a thickened scampi and pumpkin broth, while the warm soba is served with Hibachi prawns, mushroom, sun-dried tomatoes, shallots balanced with flavours made with miso and mirin.

For dessert, the options include Tiramisu infused with coffee liquor, matcha or taro flavoured Cream Puffs, Basque Cheesecake and Creme Brulee.

A special launch promotion is available exclusively for Chow Luck Club members until Friday, 31 January 2025, who can pay an additional $1 for unlimited dessert and a free drink when they spend $40 or more per person.
