This is an afternoon tea that’s not just about the food and drinks, but about bringing back nostalgia and old memories.
Hilton Auckland has launched “The Kiwi Icons”, a contemporary afternoon tea celebrating nostalgic New Zealand flavours featuring re-imagined dishes that are most cherished and evoke nostalgia for many New Zealanders.

Hilton Auckland’s Pastry Chef, Hiranya Ratnayake, curated a special menu that pays tribute to the familiar tastes many New Zealanders grew up with but elevated with creativity.
Each tier features a thoughtful reinterpretation of classic Kiwi favourites, including Ginger Crunch with Strawberry Crèmeux, Lolly Cake layered with Vanilla Cheesecake, and savoury heroes such as Roast Lamb and Kūmara Wraps.
There’s also the Southland Sushi reimagined as a Goat’s Cheese, Sundried Tomato and Kalamata Olive Roulade and Parāoa Parai served with refreshing Ika Mata.

Rounding off the experience is a sweet nod to every Kiwi childhood, the signature bon bon ice cream, now reinvented in a nostalgic Hokey Pokey flavour.
“The Kiwi Icons is more than just afternoon tea,” says Chef Hiranya. “It’s a tribute to the flavours that connect local with flavours that bring back memories, retold in a new and meaningful way.”
Guests can enjoy this culinary journey in the elegant surrounds of Bellini Bar, complete with artisan teas and panoramic views of the Waitematā Harbour.
