Despite modern medicine being the norm in the Philippines, many there still hold on to traditional methods of treatments for health For example when they contract a few or suffer from body aches, they would visit a “manghihilot”.
The term “hilot” refers to the rubbing or providing pressure on the muscles and joints to promote body healing performed by healers. It is believed to restore harmony and balance inside a person’s body.
The use of coconut oil and extracts from banana leaves combined with other herbal ingredients promotes the healing effects, and the mixture is kneaded into the body to loosen tight muscles and nerves.
It is a long held belief that hilot can rejuvenate a person’s internal energy and release soreness, aches and stress from the body.
At $75 for a full body massage, it is one of the most reasonable massage services out there.
