Takapuna was transformed into a noodle lover’s paradise over the weekend of 30 and 31 October, as the Takapuna Noodle Festival brought two days of Asian street food, culinary discoveries and family-friendly entertainment to Waiwharariki Anzac Square.
Despite some challenging weather, including strong winds and passing showers on the opening day, the festival proved to be a resounding success, drawing food lovers, families and visitors to Takapuna for a celebration of one of the world's most loved comfort foods - noodles.
Presented by Chow Luck Club as part of Taste of Takapuna Restaurant Month, the festival brought together an exciting mix of food vendors, local eateries and culinary talents, showcasing the incredible diversity of Asian noodle dishes and the cultures behind them.
From steaming bowls of Malaysian curry laksa and Singapore-style fried Hokkien mee to Thai boat noodles, Vietnamese pho, Indonesian mie bakso, Filipino pancit and Korean rabokki, visitors were treated to an impressive journey across Asia, all in one location.

The festival's $10 must-try noodle dishes proved a major drawcard, making it easy for visitors to sample different flavours without breaking the bank.
Beyond the festival market, participating Takapuna restaurants also joined the celebration with special $15 noodle dishes, encouraging visitors to explore the suburb's wider dining scene and discover some of its hidden culinary gems.
More than just a food festival, the weekend was also about bringing people together. Families enjoyed free Halloween face painting, trick-or-treat activities and interactive experiences, while Saturday's programme added live entertainment, a spin-the-wheel giveaway sponsored by Tokyo Food and Hi-Chew and plenty of fun for younger festival-goers.

The event also provided a platform for food businesses to introduce their cuisines to new audiences, with established favourites and emerging culinary operators sharing their passion for food.
For some vendors, it was an opportunity to bring dishes and flavours to the wider public that may not always be familiar to mainstream diners.
The festival's success reflects Takapuna's growing reputation as a vibrant food destination, where different cultures, cuisines and communities come together.
As the final event of the year for Chow Luck Club, organisers of the festival, the Takapuna Noodle Festival also marked a fitting conclusion to Taste of Takapuna Restaurant Month, which has been celebrating the suburb's hospitality businesses and encouraging people to support local eateries.
Ultimately, the weekend was about more than noodles. It was about celebrating cultural diversity through food, supporting local hospitality businesses and creating opportunities for the community to connect.
With two days of delicious discoveries, enthusiastic crowds and plenty of happy faces, the Takapuna Noodle Festival has certainly left visitors with a taste for more.

A huge thank you goes to the Takapuna Beach Business Association and the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board for their invaluable support in making the Takapuna Noodle Festival possible.
Their backing played an important role in bringing events like this to life, helping create vibrant experiences for the community while supporting Takapuna's local businesses and strengthening its identity as a destination for food, culture and entertainment.
