Priced at just $27 (and $20 child price) and offering a spread of at least 27 different items, it is possibly the best value Indian buffet you’d find in Auckland.

The buffet features their iconic chicken lollipop, world-famous in Auckland Hyderabadi dum biryani, a selection of chicken, lamb and vegetarian curries, naan, a salad bar, sweet treats and desserts.

The menu changes every week, but staples such as butter chicken, signature biryani, and chicken lollipop remain on the menu.

The buffet runs from Monday to Friday with hourly sessions starting at 6pm in the Paradise “party room,” which can seat 110 people, and is perfect for big group bookings or private functions too.

Paradies buffet and dine-in operations manager Pradeep Medasani said the restaurant’s sumptuous buffet is perfect for those wanting to try different Indian dishes that capture that spirit of Diwali.

“The buffet features at least 27 authentic specialities ranging from aromatic curries, biryani, chicken lollipop, hearty mains and irresistible desserts,” he said.

The Paradise Hyderabadi biryani, which has been voted by Aucklanders to be among the top 100 Iconic Auckland Eats, has its roots in Hyderabad in South India.

Consisting of basmati rice, the offering at the buffet comes with a vegetarian option and either a mutton or chicken version.

“The richness in our biryani comes from the unique process of cooking called ‘dum’, which fuses raw rice and raw meat together with exotic spices rather than other types of biryani where meat and rice are cooked separately,” he said.

“This cooking style was introduced to Hyderabad from Persia during the Mughals’ regime in India.”

Paradise specializes in Mughlai Indian cuisine, which is renowned for its richness and aroma in the meals due to the extensive use of spices such as saffron, cardamom, black pepper, dry fruits, nuts as well as rich cream, milk and butter as bases for its curry.

“Hyderabad city is a food hub of India, and our Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is a must try as it's one of a kind, the best biryani form,” Pradeep said.

The chicken lollipop is perhaps the most popular dish from the buffet spread, and these are regularly topped up as diners finish platter after platter of them.

Chicken lollipop is a favourite Indo-Chinese starter dish made from frenched chicken drummettes, where the meat is cut loose and pushed to one end, thus resembling a lollipop.

They are marinated in spices, coated in batter and deep-fried until crispy.

Pradeep said Paradise also takes pride in being “the best Halal restaurant in Auckland”.
